

Posterior Tibial Tendonitis
Posterior Tibial Tendonitis is a degenerative condition of the tendon and leads to flattening of the arch of the foot. It typically presents as swelling and/ or pain along the tendon. There is typically difficulty loading the tendon during heel rise and inversion of the rearfoot.

It is more prevalent in overweight women, who may also have leg length inequalities, weak hip and ankle strength and poor balance.

Diagnosis is based on the inability to perform a single leg heel rise. Ultrasound can help with diagnosis.
